Swindon drew with promotion rivals Salisbury 1-1 in a game they dominated but failed to convert their opportunities.
After missing a string of early chances, Swindon came close to scoring when Victoria Stokes hit the post from a penalty corner move. Just before half time, Salisbury took the lead when a deflected penalty corner flew past Sarah Newman giving her no chance to change direction and make a save. Just before half time, the Salisbury keeper pulled off a wonder save from Stokes as she smashed a shot towards the far post.
The second half followed the structure of the first with Swindon dominating through creative midfield play from Linda Brouwers and Gemma Scrase linking well with teenager Gael Little. Eventually, continued pressure paid off when Swindon's Chloe Lewis smashed a short corner past the Salisbury keeper and the game finished 1-1.
After the game, Swindon scorer Chloe Lewis was relieved with the result 'we are playing some excellent hockey and we should have won this game. I am relieved I could get the goal to secure a point for the team'.
