Swindon travelled to Bristol to play Westberries. Swindon started on the front foot and were ahead after 2 minutes courtesy of a great diagonal thru ball from Gemma Scrase which found Chloe Lewis in the D, her strike was partially saved by the keeper allowing Shona O'Dwyer to finish from close range.
The Berries stuck to their task and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 32nd minute.
The half time team talk saw Swindon come out fighting and it wasnt long before Swindon were awarded a short corner. Linda Brouwers slipped the ball left to Lewis who crossed the ball to the diving Lynsey Wall who deflected the shot past a helpless keeper. Once again The Berries fought back making it 2-2.
With 7 minutes on the clock O'Dwyer found Lewis in the D and she struck the ball past the keeper, only for the umpires to rule that it wasnt a goal.
This fired Swindon up and man of the match Gemma Scrase expertly weaved her way through the opposition defence only to be taken out by the Goal Keeper. Penalty flick to Swindon. Scrase was quick to nominate teenager Lewis, who expertly finished the job. The Swindon defence resolutely defended until the final whistle ensuring that Swindon held on for all 3 points. Full time Swindon 3, Westberries 2.
Next week Swindon vs Bath Buccs 2s at home.
