Swindon Ladies 1s made the journey to local rivals Chippenham for their first league match of the 2019/20 season.
Chippenham are always a tough team but Swindon started off well. They were awarded a short corner 3 minutes into the game, Gemma Scrase managed to get on the end of the strike and boom, 1 nil Swindon.
It wasn't long before Chippenham played a thru ball to the forwards who managed to beat keeper Lex and put the ball into net.
This fired Swindon up and they went on the attack once again, Scrase playing a lovely ball in to Rebecca Lightbody who drove into the D, after a bit of scramble Rachel King got her stick to the ball and reversed it neatly into the net (It may have a touched a Chippenham defender on the way in?).
Once again it wasnt long before Chippenham scored a goal and pulled the scores level.
After half time, the Swindon side started to play their game. With 5 minutes to go and the scores even Linda Brouwers played a hard ball into the D, Chloe Lewis somehow managed to get her stick on it and shoot it through her own legs into the net.
Swindon played some of their best hockey in the final moments of match and were able to take the 3 points home.
