Thanks to Rachel for the following match report:
Swindon started their penultimate match before the Christmas break against a strong Redland side on a rather muddy pitch!
Swindon started well stringing passing up the pitch with Chloe Lewis capitalising from a pass near the half way line and dribbled it effortlessly until the D where her shot met the back of the net. It was 1-0 to Swindon for about... 60 seconds when Redland scored from a quick drive down the line and a shot from the top of the D which Swindon’s defence could not keep out. Swindon kept on top of the first half with a few cheeky aerials from Rachel King and Ella Jayne Caldwell and strong pressing keeping the ball in Redlands half.
Swindon’s second goal came from good play in the middle and a pass to Lynsey Wall who got a touch on the ball making it 2-1. After many short corners in the first half Swindon scored from a straight strike from Chloe that may or may not have been helped to go in by a Redland leg, making it 3-1.
The second half was a battle but Swindon had much of the possession but did not score, it was 3-1 with 5 mins to go. The last 5 mins consisted of at least 6 consecutive short corners which allowed Swindon to practice their defensive shorts! With the blow of the whistle another two short corners...one of which beat the defence ending the match at 3-2.
Mom: Chloe Lewis (good play all round and two goals to add to the tally)
