Thanks to Rachel for this week's match report:
Swindon Ladies 1s were looking to extend their lead at the top of the table against Cirencester Ladies 1s. Swindon started strong, pressing high and good passes up the wings. A lovely pass from right back Emily Best, made its way to Gemma Scrase who smashed it across the D to Lynsey Wall who calmed slotted it into the goal.
Cirencester came back hard and played with intensity winning themselves a short corner. Ciren passed around the top of the D, finding its way to a player who deflected the ball in. Making it 1-1.
Multiple good saves from Alexis Hogarth and a strong defence meant it stayed level. Lyno made a great run and smashed the ball from the top of the D only for it to be saved with Cirencester’s goalies stick (great save).
Swindon kept pressing hard with more great link up play from the midfielders and forwards resulted in Swindon winning a short corner. Lyno once again managed to slot it home.
With the last minutes of the match closing in, Swindon managed the game well and held up the ball. Special mention to Gemma who calmly held onto the ball with at least 4 players trying to tackle her until the final whistle went, ensuring the game finished 2-1 (then collapsing on the floor due to tiredness).
All round a great team performance which extended our lead at the top of the table.
Mom - Victoria Stokes (great runs, great pace, great all round)
