Unlucky loss but gave a good half!

Swindon 2's 2 - 6 North Wilts
An unlucky result at the end with the score line not showing the true story of the game.
Swindon got off to a nervous start against top table north wilts, making a few mistakes early on and with them scoring in the first 5 minutes. But Swindon upping the intensity and remaining positive managed to pull back a quick equalizer with a great run by Sue Roberts to set up Kim Taylor who smashed it goal-wards but daisy Mussard there to slot it in the corner. The game being end to end with both teams having chances saw north wilts score again from a rebound after a great initial save by Mollie Selwood. But again, Swindon keeping calm and determined more than ever to get themselves back in the game kept making runs down the wings with Helen Niblock making some fantastic runs, pushing Swindon into more attacking chances. Michelle Harding scored a cracking goal from a first time strike in a slick short corner. Pressure building, Swindon kept their foot on the gas with chances coming more freely and Charlie Watson being the power house in the middle, distributed the ball well and kept north wilts attack at bay. Heather Knight was unlucky not to score from a ball crossed in from out wide who was lurking far post. Half time and things were looking promising for Swindon with chances coming but just lacking accuracy with the final ball. At the start of the second half Swindon started nervy again and north wilts pounced on the opportunity by scoring from a well worked short corner. Swindon going behind again knew there were chances still in this game carried on putting on the pressure with Anna Jasper making some great runs down the wings and linking well with Daisy. Swindon were unlucky to concede the 4th goal but was some great play by north wilts forward leaving mollie with little chance to save it. A massive blow quickly came with Jo Harding and Charlie becoming injured in quick succession forced a change of formation and structure. But the ladies never gave up though and still knew they were still in this game as always looking dangerous on the run. Chance came from a wonderful run from rabbit giving a one two with Ella with the ball eventually coming to Anna who was extremely unlucky not to convert the goal... but was brave enough to try a reverse hit wink emoticon This was the turning point of the game, with Swindon then forced to 10 men for the rest of the game with 20 minutes left after a very controversial decision forcing rabbit off the pitch. Emotions running high and north wilts using the extra man Swindon struggled to keep possession of the ball and get it over the half way line. Charlotte Barker made some great tackles and worked well with Michelle playing the ball around the back. With pressure being kept on our goal Mollie was forced to make some excellent saves and Sarah Dugmore also made some great interceptions and helped push Swindon out of their own D.
The score line doesn't really give justice to the 2's today after the amount of effort everyone put in and the improvement made since their last game, evening managing to score from a short - who does that wink emoticon
Man of the match - Helen for her cracking runs, superb tackles and non stop effort
Donkey - Kim Taylor for knocking a ball onto the pitch with the mens still playing before us
