Swindon secure 5th place, a great result and massive improvement, growing stronger every game!!

Swindon 2's 2 - 1 Chippenham 3's the final report frown emoticon
Ladies 2's final game saw a dramatic win against local opposition Chippenham, finishing off a great season and securing 5th place! The ladies got off to a great start with silky smooth skills making a re-appearance from the one...the only... mean machine Charlie Watson! After receiving the ball just over the half way line she bulldozed her way through, tearing open chipp's defense to calmly lift the ball over the keeper into the back of the net for her first goal of the season but missed the other 6! With the rain beginning to pour chances started flooding in for both sides. Sassy Southie, Kim Taylor ,was unlucky to have a goal disallowed after a great overhead take to swoop the ball into the back of the net, still leaving the nail biting issue of who would be top goal scorer. Chippenham came back fighting and after a couple of consecutive short corners they managed to slip one through Mollie's reach into the corner of the goal. With the ladies desperately wanting to win, we pushed forward through crabby runs from Angela Cooke, who despite being injured, still managed to dominate and make a massive impact in going forward. Helen Niblock also created some fabulous chances down the right, with confidence growing throughout the season to push forward, came close to setting up Daisy Mussard to pull back the lead. With the girls pushing for the win it did mean we had to put in some great tackles at the back to maintain possession. A slimming Mount Everest, Chloe Peppiatt made some lovely tackles and interceptions to hold off Chipp's strong attacks and worked well with Nicci Foster-Kenyon who set up some fantastic forward plays and distributed the ball round the back excellently. Half time and with it all level both team were fighting for the win.
Second half saw an appearance of Big Foot Ella to still make some runs down the wings but couldn't hit anything but her own feet. However with Julie Lewis playing in an attacking role, there would always be chances for Swindon, who also nearly came close we a cheeky reverse shot but the keeper made a good save. Bethany George made some stunning runs forward, holding the ball up well and used her tactical awareness to earn numerous short corners. After Wednesday's practice and Jo Harding perfecting the crab shuffle stop anyone would of thought we could have sneaked a goal. Unfortunately Helen Niblock showed some wonderful golf swings but couldn't find the target. After the ball was stolen in the middle of the park by The Rock Tassive, Swindon broke away early and after the first initial shot was saved by Joops the ball fell to Ella who slotted the ball in the far corner. Kim was there on the post but due to technical difficulties we are still waiting on the 3rd umpire for video referral as to who got it. Top goal scorer at stake so they're just making sure its accurate wink emoticon Swindon had finally retaken the lead but knew there was still a long way to hold on. Nicci and Chloe controlled the back brilliantly under a large amount of pressure and Sarah Dugmore made some great recovering tackles to block to opposition out down their strong attacking side. Chippenham made Swindon work extremely hard for the win but determined more than ever, the ladies held on and Mollie had a quite second half of the game.
WIN WIN WIN !
