Swindon strong performance produced 2 goal lead and a clean sheet

Ladies 2's Adventure
Swindon 2 - 0 Bath Buccs 4's
A fantastic win against a tough opposition and the first clean sheet of the season whoohoo! After an active warm up of sweeping the water logged pitch, Swindon were ready to come out the blocks fighting. The match was fairly balanced in the first 10 minutes of the game with both sides having a few chances but struggled to break down either's defense. After an excellent tackle from Charlotte Barker, Swindon were able to make a speedy counter attack through a smashing ball by Sue Robertsfor Daisy Mussard to calmly slot it through the keepers legs. Confidence now rising Swindon kept piling on the pressure with a few good chances by Kim Taylor who came close to adding her name to the score sheet. With one shot deflected, Ella manged to slip the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. With Bath being two goals down the pressure began to build on Swindon's defense to hold the lead. Helen Niblock made some great tackles and interceptions to prevent the counter attack and Charlie Watson was the rock in the middle making some beautiful tackles! Half time struck and belief started to sink in that we could be on to something here. Nicci Foster-Kenyon made a welcome return, with some great tackles as the foundation of the defense. We tried our best to keep her on her toes by even making a "half" attempt of an aerial! (definitely making up for lost time). With Bath giving it everything they had in the tank, Swindon did have to defend to the last breath but with communication and structure at the back and Mollie Selwood on top form, we were determined to hold on. Scarlett Walton also had a stunning game making some lovely reverse tackles, aiding in Swindon's clean sheet success. Determined to keep the clean sheet and get all 3 points bodies, were thrown on the line to hold on. Angela Cooke showed great determination throughout the whole game, making some vital stops and runs and Emma Brown showed great feistiness upfront, making some defense breaking passes. A great day and a good result, keeping the opposition and Jo Harding's stomach at bay.
Man of the Match: a 3- way tie between: Charlotte, Scarlett and Mollie being superb at the back
Donkey - Mollie for forgetting some kit ... being vital as a goal keeper!
