Swindon Ladies 2s 1 -1 Devizes 2s

Many thanks to Kim for this week's match report:

First game back for the ladies against Devizes and we were expecting to be a bit rusty after the festive break.

We started the game with only 11 players so we knew we had to work hard from the beginning. The match started evenly with Jo Harding, Michele Harding and Angela Tovey defending well together getting the ball to the midfielders. Putting pressure on Devizes with great passing between Karen Silvester, Emily Howse and Jo Gillingham the ball was passed to Kim Taylor who took it into the D slapping it across hitting the opposition’s foot which resulted in a short corner being awarded. Becky Davies had a great shot from this short corner which was saved, Chloe Silvester was there to pick up the rebound which hit the keepers pads and went in leaving us 1-0 up at half time.

After our half time chat and realising that we were playing well we started the 2nd half positively.

With some sloppy passing we hear Michele ‘encouraging’ us to make better passes, we worked hard and pushed forward but Devizes managed to work their way up to the D and score their goal. Nervously Devizes were awarded 2 short corners in a row with 3 minutes to go before full time but once again the defenders and Sarah Anstey did a great job and put a stop to them!

Happy with the result today considering the break as we realised we were not as unfit as we thought and the skills were still there!!
