Swindon Ladies 2s 2 – 1 Corsham 2s

Swindon Ladies 2nd team arrived at St Joseph's on a miserable Saturday morning. The weather was terrible but we were all happy to be back on the pitch again.

The ladies started off strong as Corsham put a lot of pressure on the defence in the first few minutes. The central defence, Michele and Tassive, stayed strong and continued to push Corsham back. They linked well with Mia and Abi who were always on the move creating space. It was great to have Emily and Nat back on the pitch creating lots of goal opportunities and making lots of brilliant runs down the wing. Near the end of the first half, Corsham broke the defence and scored a goal making the score 1-0 to them. Eve was making brilliant runs to the corners to receive the ball and move the Corsham defence. Danni made some great tackles in the centre and created great space. The first half ended 1-0 to Corsham.

Thanks to Chloe, Kim and Karen, we had a great support system on the sideline cheering us on the whole game.

The ladies started the second half in high spirit as they knew they could come back and score some goals. The ladies put a lot of pressure on the Corsham team. Like always, Jasmine was running all over the pitch, moving the defenders constantly. The team were given a few short corners with no outcome unfortunately. Becky was moving round the centre half of the pitch and taking possession of the ball trying to create as many goal opportunities as possible. Sarah was putting lots of pressure on the Corsham players down the right forcing them to make mistakes. We then had a sideline ball where Abi hit the ball to Becky who then found Joops who made a beautiful run into the D with no defenders around her who then received the ball and hit it past the goalkeeper and brought Swindon up 1-1.

Swindon continued to put the pressure on the Corsham side. After several short corners, the final whistle went so we all surrounded the D. Joops took a shot at goal which bounced off a few defenders and found Katie's stick who took a shot at goal which went in! The game ended 2-1 to us!
