The mixed U13s met at Devizes Leisure Centre and it was a beautiful day with no rain in sight. Sadly, we were one player short due to illness, but we managed to get hold of players from two different teams to help out. They were Maddy from Corsham and Charlie from Royal Wootton Bassett - Thank you for your help.
Match 1
As goal keeper I was rather busy in the first game against Royal Wootton Bassett with no opposing goal keeper they had seven players out field. We were a bit rusty too, because we hadn’t played together for 4 weeks. We went 2-0 down and then pegged it back to 2-2 unfortunately the 6 outfielders tired quicker than the 7 and we eventually lost 4-2.
Match 2
This match was against Corsham. We didn’t think we were going to win because we had lost to them before in difficult matches, but we won 5-2, with Charlie from Royal Wootton Bassett really making a difference, distributing the ball well making it easier for our players to score goals. We ended the game with a great poacher’s goal from Arthur with seconds to spare.
Match 3
We comfortably won 4-0 against Devizes, playing the game mostly down the opposition’s end of the pitch. As goal keeper I didn’t have very much to do. When reaching 3-0 we swapped our attackers into defence and defence up into attack giving other players a chance to score goals.
In conclusion, we won 2 games out of 3 – keeping good possession of the ball through most of the matches. My Swindon player of the match is Eleanor, because she had played basically all the positions possible on the pitch and played them excellently. Well done Eleanor!
