Swindon Mixed 4 Andover Mixed 7

Dave "The Baron" Miles was instrumental in midfield throughout, and it was in the first two minutes if the game that he found Jim Towers who player the ball on to Rebecca Lightbody. She controlled the ball well and fired home to give Swindon an early lead. Andover drew level after the ball was turned over in midfield. The ball was driven in down the left and fired high from a ridiculous angle, leaving Chris Holland helpless.

The half continued with both teams creating chances, Swindon's best opportunity falling to Doug MacLeod who fired wide with the goal gaping. Andover took advantage and worked the ball down the Swindon left, before cutting the ball back and finding Holland wanting. A third for Andover quickly followed and Swindon went in 3-1 down at half time.

With a bit of a reshuffle, Swindon came out in the second half determined to enjoy the game and have an impact on it. Charlie Watson, playing on the right, won the ball following a scramble in the Andover circle. She found Dan Hindon, who flicked the ball up and volleyed it into the bottom corner to make it 3-2.

Then, disaster struck. Or as we call him, Michael Macintyre. 3-2 quickly became 5-2 as a result, but Swindon kept going. Karen Silvester scored a straight strike to give Swindon hope, but another couple of dodgy goals against settled the game. There was still time for Miles to get on the scoresheet, injecting a corner, before Silvester's strike was tipped home by Miles on the left post.

An enjoyable game of hockey and we now drop into the Mixed Plate competition, the next round of which will occur on January 19th 2020.
