Having Played Bassett a few weeks before we knew what we would be up against. But with a weakened team due to poor availability throughout the teams our task became even tougher. Undeterred the 4ths started brightly and created some good chances and controlled much of the first half but failure to convert any of those chances proved to be our downfall. Bassett started the 2nd half a lot more positively and started to put us under a bit more pressure and we conceded a coupe of penalty corners but our resolute defence held strong. However with the match looking like it would probably play out to a draw the umpire had a different view. When a basset ball into the circle brushed the defenders ear (The defender concerned stands at 6'2" and was upright) and dropped at the feet of a basset player who scored, she saw no danger. To add insult to injury when the Swindon captain asked politely why it was allowed and was told that she saw now danger and green carded him for allegedly swearing when in fact it was another player entirely. The rest of the game played out in the stalemate that had proceeded this strange event. Net result 1-0 loss and feeling very much that we had been robbed.
Man of the Match George Hall for his tireless running on his debut.
Donkey of the day rather unfairly to the Captain Nick Vigar for a green card for somebody else's chat.
