A considerably shorter match report than usual, but not much happened really. The Christmas break had clearly had an effect on motivation and skill quality in the warm up but was quickly shouted of everyone's systems by captain Alex Hynes. It seemed to do the trick as the team switched on and starting hitting the balls towards to the goal.
It was Marlborough who started the brightest of the two teams, breaking the back line quicker, but before long Swindon upped their game and started to dominate. Roughly halfway through the first half, the deadlock was broken though a deftly touched deflection from Jordan McKenzie.
Swindon continued to press for most of the game, but the threes trademark torrid ten minutes kicked in as the possibility of a win was within reach. Balls were being smashed from the back in desperation to get rid of it, giving it straight to Marlborough to who it was obvious that they could still get something from the game. Luckily Swindon were not punished and took all three points, reaching the target set at the beginning of the season almost ensuring us safety in this league.
All in all, not too bad. There is plenty of work to be done though if we don't want to suffer against Chippenham A in a similar fashion as last time!
