Swindon B V Royal Wootton Bassett B

An understrength Swindon B with many youngsters travelled the short distance to Bassett to face a very strong and experienced side. The game was played very competitively with neither side giving any quarter but Bassett's weight and experience soon gave them their first sight of goal which they duly converted. Swindon tried to move the ball around to create space but were not able to make much headway. A second Bassett goal before halftime just made things harder.

After a hearty halftime talk Swindon came out and started to move more purposely, however a few crunching tackles saw another opportunity taken by Bassett with the Swindon defence left exposed. This pattern was repeated throughout the half with Bassett adding another three before Swindon youngster Charlie G picked up a loose trap by a Bassett defender, drew the keeper, swivelled & slotted home in some style.
The game ended with a Bassett Penalty corner, which was netted but appears to have been struck off, for the ball not having been stopped outside of the circle, despite initially being given.

Despite the loss there were a number of good performances by the younger players including Liam R in goal, Toby B on the left Nathan F in the centre, the afore mentioned Charlie G and not to be out done by the youngsters Sam D was outstanding in the centre of the park helping to keep our momentum going.
