A draw for the Mens 3s against locals North Wilts

Thanks to Guppy for this week's very seasonal match report:

T`was the game before Christmas o`er Dorcan school
Not allowed to gather pitchside because of the rule
The players positions they knew not who or where
In hopes that St.Nick soon would be there
The players listened intently then to what the man said
While words of Sams wisdoms danc`d in their head
And Liam in his pads helmet and mask
Had settled between the posts up to the task
Then the umpires they did whistle it made such a din
And the team settled down ready to begin
Up front started Nathan and Ed, showing their flair
In midfield Matt ably assisted by his Samson like hair
With his first for the club 1-0 it was Joe Moss
With him in the side we`ve never suffered a loss
Then 2-0, and we pulled further ahead
As the ball ran loose, it was put home by Ed
Then Nathan proving he was no slacker
Made it 3-0 - a real Christmas cracker
North Wilts pulled one back we looked in despair
The ball entered the D at chest height mid air
Then North Wilts scored and made it 3 – 2
Their first team players were starting to shine through
Then we broke and we scored we all had big grins
But come on Harrison it was hardly top bins
Then came the whistle half time in the game.
And St.Nick urged his elves on and called them by name
“Now! Ashley, now! Mark, now! Charlie and Joe
“On! Harrison, on! Nathan, on! The other Joe
Onwards with great passion all playing for the shirt
Rosey playing more than five minutes without getting hurt
As the game ebbed and flowed it went end to end
Sam at the back great passes did send
And then it became goodwill to North Wilts men
As they got penalty corners again and again
They pulled back another to make it 4 – 3
We still had our chances but it wasn’t to be
Then from another penalty corner North Wilts they did roar
And the match it was finishing all square at 4 - 4
The end of the game the umpire gave a whistle
And they all left the pitch, like the down of a thistle
And with a performance more than up to scratch
Joe Moss was awarded man of the match
But for not knowing the rules what more could we say
And so Joe Moss was also donkey of the day
Two without loss, Tis a season of good cheer
All that was missing was a post match team beer
Then the team they did depart and took homeward flight
Leaving Gup saying Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
