Swindon Ladies 1s continue their winning streak

Thanks to Gemma for this week's match report:

Swindon Ladies have had an interesting week, with lots of injuries & niggles to contend with; thank you to DC Injury Clinic...you’re literally taping our team together!

With no official GK available, the injured Linda Brouwers steps up to stand in goal, however, she did far more than just stand and put in a man of the match winning performance.

Swindon also welcomed Eve MacLeod and Jenny Brackstone to make their debut in the 1st XI and the infamous Emily King making an over due come back! Thank you very much ladies for stepping up.

Back in form Lynsey Wall was first to find the backboard after a well rehearsed short corner, affectionately named the Ang, duly because Angela Cooke was the provider.

Wall hunted for her second which also came from a short won by Emily Best’s excellent composure in the D placing the ball on a defenders foot. Adriana Boullosa strike from the right found Wall on the spot to deflect the ball between the keepers legs. Swindon felt very comfortable, Chloe Lewis in complete control of the middle and Charlie Watson & Mary Goldsmith moping up anything that broke through.

Half time team talk was very positive, we were very pleased with ourselves.

Victoria Stokes decided she wanted a piece of the action and started the second half. After a great drive in to the D & winning a short corner, Stokes then got on the end of a far post shot from the short and scrambled the ball over the line.

Yate applied some pressure and asked more questions of Swindon’s defensive, a lot of short corners were conceded, mainly for feet, but we some how managed to maintain the clean sheet - Brouwers making a few class saves.

Swindon broke down the left, still hungry for more goals, with some pretty link up play between Lewis, Rebecca Lightbody & Rachel King they broke into the D where King took charge and fired the ball in, collected the rebound to flick it past the flapping keeper. 4-0

Again Yate set up camp in Swindon's D where a handful more shorts were awarded, and Yate finally got their consolation. 4-1

Captain Boullosa was extremely pleased with the teams performance.
Thanks to Dan Baker for umpiring and to all the supporters.
