Swindon played away against Bath Buccs on a very waterlogged pitch. We knew it was going to be a tough game, having no goalie and 11 outfield players.
Swindon’s defence started strong and Katie made a great diving goal-line save. Bath had a few chances in the Swindon D and managed to convert one after about 10 minutes. Swindon equalised shortly after with Chloe Silvester making a great baseline run and putting the ball past two defenders and between the goalie’s legs.
Bath responded with two quick goals from short corners just before half time. The score at half time was Baths Buccs 3-1 Swindon.
At the start of the second half, Bath managed to win a short corner and scored. Soon after, we worked well on an attack and great play between Claire Bates and Emily K resulted in a goal from Faith. Towards the end of the second half, Bath Buccs managed to score two more goals before the game was ended 5 mins early due to the pitch being under an inch of water.
The game finished Swindon 2-6 Bath Buccs. Captain Becky stated after the match: "Swindon Ladies 2s should feel proud of their efforts today, they should have scored a lot more".
