U12 Girls
Salisbury B vs Swindon

Match One: Salisbury B vs Swindon
This was an encouraging start for our team, despite a narrow 1-0 loss. We played well as a team, held our positions and moved the ball around well. Ciara was superb in goal, and was even commended by the Salisbury coach for her.

Match Two: Swindon vs Corsham
We built on our earlier game, and came away happy with a 0-0. It was a very even game, with good performances throughout, but I think Eleanor in defence was the star performer. I think (if memory serves) we even forced a penalty corner in this match, and nearly scored from it!

Match Three: Marlborough A vs Swindon
Brutal. We tried hard, but unfortunately succumbed to a 7-0 mauling. Marlborough were very well drilled, their passing was superb, and their shooting was precise (and hard). We didn’t run around as well, we didn’t keep our positions as well and left gaps all over the pitch. There was a noticeable gulf between defence and our attack, I think mainly because we were struggling to contain the mighty Marlborough. In our defence, we had three U10s on the pitch, whereas Marl A were all clearly at the top end of U12. Some were nearly twice the size of Violet and Maia!

Match Four: Marlborough B vs Swindon
With no time to relax, we were straight into the next match against Marlborough B, and they didn’t go easy either. I think this was 3-0 (maybe 4-0), but our team were clearly exhausted from running around just trying to get the ball. We did have one attack (Maia ran down the wing very well), and came close to scoring, but we lacked that final killer strike.
