Swindon lose out at home

This top of the table clash saw a spirited men's 1st team go down swinging against a very good Cardiff side. In the end, numbers counted as Cardiff used their huge bench to good effect; stealing the win in the last few minutes.

The game started brightly, with Towers stealing the ball on the transfer, holding it up, before shooting on the reverse. A wicked deflection saw the ball loop over the keeper, with Towers looking sheepish.

Cardiff worked hard to get back into the game, with a composed finish beating Alan Gough. A second for the visitors quickly followed, with a deflection wrong footing the goalkeeper. Swindon stepped up again and Luke Cejer played in Phil Scarisbrick, who hit the ball on the run, the quick release deceiving the keeper.

With the half time score even, Swindon continued to press and work hard as a unit. The game was in total deadlock, with Swindon limiting the visitors to half chances, Parsons marshalling the defence well and Thomas Hunt putting in some tough tackles.

With minutes left, Swindon conceded a short corner, the ball struck cleanly and deceiving Goughie for the winner. Despite the defeat, Swindon remain upbeat and confident that they will continue to compete at the right end of the league. Whitchurch away next week, here's to maintaining our away winning streak.

MOM: Tom Hunt
DOD: Henry Cheney (lack of effort)
