The men's 1st XI came up short today in a must win game against second placed Devizes.

Despite starting the stronger, Swindon for once failed to make their pressure count. Even during a spell of playing a man light, Swindon continued to ask the questions. The visitors came back into the game and halfway through the first half managed to bundle the ball beyond Alan Gough for the opening goal. Swindon regrouped and continued to push hard for an equaliser, however a well taken short corner from Devizes saw them double their lead.

Swindon refused to surrender, with captain Luke Cejer leading by example as the visitors tried to manage the game away from Swindon. Shortly before half time, man of the match Chris Parsons took a quick free hit. He found Towers, who in turn played in Cejer. Cejer passed forward to Phil Scarisbrick who held up the ball before playing in Cejer. Despite the attention of some desperate defending, Cejer maintained his composure to bring Swindon back into the game.

Despite plenty of huffing and puffing, Swindon failed to find an equaliser, with the experienced Devizes side proving too good. A classy deflection fairly late on settled the result in favour of the visitors.

Despite the setback, we will pick ourselves back up again with a visit to Yate next week. Thank you to those who watched and supported, sorry we couldn't get the result
