Swindon miss out valuable points at home

Swindon 1 Lydney 2

A lacklustre performance from the men's 1st XI ensured that at the halfway stage of the season, we are winless at home.

The home side started well, dominating the opening exchanges, limiting Lydney to a handful of opportunities on the break. The opening goal came from some excellent team play. Towers picked up the ball in midfield, held onto it, before playing the ball forward to Luke Cejer. A series of passes between Cejer, CP and Phil Scarisbrick led to an easy chance for Parsons, who finished clinically. Despite their dominance, Swindon were made to pay for some sloppy short corner defending, Lydney working the ball well for a tap in on the back post.

The second half saw a change in personnel, with Swindon continuing to create good chances that went unconverted. Half way through the second half, Parsons gave the ball up to former Swindon stalwart Jake Biddle, who drove the circle and finished emphatically. Swindon worked hard to get back into the game, creating several clear opportunities, however a lack of quality meant the Lydney keeper spent much of the second half watching.

Next week we begin the second half of the season with the visit of Swansea City, a team we beat 2-0 in South Wales. Why not come down and help pick us up ahead of the quiz as we seek out that first home win of the season.

MOM: Thomas Hunt - beautiful man.
