The men's 1st XI finished 2014 in much the same way as their season had begun; lacking the killer instinct to see off a poor visiting Swansea side.
Trialling a new shape, Swindon put the visitors under a lot of pressure in the first half, but again failed to capitalise on the opportunities they created. Veteran keeper Alan Gough was left largely untroubled in the first half.
The second half saw much the same pattern of play; Swindon hammering on the door, with Swansea holding their hosts at arms length. Eventually, Swindon's pressure paid, with Chris Parsons firing the ball into the circle. Towers stepped in front of his man and deflected beyond the unsighted keeper, right into the top corner.
Swindon had further opportunities, however it was Swansea who late on managed to sneak a goal and hold on for the draw.
Skipper Luke Cejer summed up the first half of the season by saying, "We can't sit around feeling sorry for ourselves, but it is fair to say we have not yet reached anywhere near our full potential. Let's get our heads up and look forward to the new year and a fresh start."
MOM: Parsons, silky skills and great pass for the goal.
DOD: Thomas Hunt, too many things to list!
