The men's 1st XI were brought back down to earth with a bump today with a disappointing result against one of our potential rivals for promotion.

Match report from Jim:

The game started evenly, with Swindon creating opportunities but failing to convert. The home side then found themselves 2-0 down and reeling, with a green and yellow card issued... Swindon were on the ropes. Jim Towers stopped further damage with a stop on the line from a short corner.

Down at half time, coach Rob 'h' Riddell had some stern words for the team, who lacked composure and struggled to hold onto the ball. Swindon started the second half slightly better, creating opportunities but again struggling to convert. Disaster struck with Riddell losing the ball and the visitors capitalising to make it 3-0. Bad went to worse when a penalty flick was awarded but Swindon were spared by the post as Jonathan Griffiths dived the right way.

The game was gone for Swindon who spent some time down to 9 but still created opportunities that went untaken. The final nail was smashed home following the final whistle after the award of yet another short corner which was drag flicked into the top corner.

After the game, the exceptional Tom Wickens commented, "Not a great game to watch, especially when you just want to play. Think of the chances I could have missed today!"

Next week the boys finish off their first half of the season with a tough trip to undefeated table toppers Swansea, followed by the Christmas party at Longs. Thank you to everyone who came down to support today!

MOM - James Lewis, legs for days and some outstanding tackling.
