Plymouth Marjon 1- Swindon 2

Men's 1st xi recorded a great victory in their first game back in the premiership of west men's hockey. Swindon dominated the opening 20 mins but went behind against the run of play, 5 mins earlier Wicko had cleared a penalty corner out of mid air as Goughy watched! But with the first half running out Tom Gillingham got a great deflection to bring the visitors back into the game, a rousing half time chat from parsons gave the team even more belief, mid way through the half with Swindon reduced to ten men after Lewis was yellow carded, with only ten on the pitch swindon grabbed what would turn out to be the winning goal, a quick break and amazing pass from Wicko found Tom Gillingham wide who beat a couple of defenders to set up jake biddle at the top of the area to slap it in through the legs of the marjons keeper. The final minutes of the game saw Swindon continue to battle for everything and hold on for a great win and 3 points, next weekend we face Robinsons at home at 11am , which will see the return of ex swindon player Charlie Rutherford to face the team he played for over ten years!
