Cardiff Uni 1 - Swindon 2

Swindon recorded their first league win away from home in the 12/13 season, Swindon missing 3 key players Jake Biddle, John Scrase from the midfield and Adam Farag from the forward line took a weakened team to face the Welsh students, Swindon started the brighter of the two sides but within ten minutes the game had fallen into the pattern for the rest of the match, with the students pressing Swindon hard and the visitors launching counter attacks, and it was two counter attacks mid way and late on in the first half that were to prove the undoing of the students.

The first Swindon goal game from some great play along the right from Matt Slamon and Lewis Dyer, the quick slapped shot inside the area coming from striker Gillingham who gave the keeper no chance, minutes later Luke Cejer saw his early short well saved by the GK, with the first half coming to an end it was again Gilligham who was on hand to smash home a rebound from the GK pads to put the visitors 2-0 up at the half time break.

The second half saw the students pile on the pressure and in the centre of midfield Parsons & Cejer were doing tireless amount of work to stem the wave after wave of attacks, and the Swindon defence were also well defending penalty corners after penalty corners, with time running out for the home side they got a life line after the umpire failed to notice an infringement he allowed play to continue and they scored from close range passed the diving Gough in the Swindon goal.

Swindon managed to hold onto to the lead, facing a number of penalty corners in the dying minutes and one on the final whistle that saw Gough save well and clear, this was Swindon's first away win in the Premiership and with a weakend team was even sweeter!
