A tough game for Mens 2s who travelled to table toppers Minehead this week

Match report from Dan:

The game started with Minehead having most of the ball but Swindon held strong for the first 10 minutes until a short corner was conceded which well worked by Minehead and spilled to the right and slotted neatly into the bottom corner.

Swindon continued to stand strong with Tim and Aidan working the ball nicely in the middle of the park but were unable to create any really goal threatening chances through and clearly well drilled team. Unfortunately Swindon started pushing forward but were undone when the ball was lost high up the pitch and a massive aerial was played, beating the last man and he was able to slot in to the bottom corner.

Swindon managed to hold out with some big defending from the back four of Sam, Alex, Seb and Dan with Chris in goal making some good saves to keep the score down to 2-0 at half time.

The second half started with a very similar fashion with Minehead having a lot of the ball and trying to force into the D but Swindon continue to hold strong until another well worked short corner found its way into the back of the net. Unfortunately some sloppy work at the back saw Minehead quickly get a few goals before Swindon started to see the ball, managing to win a short corner which unfortunately was well saved by the goal keeper from a lovely drag from Aidan.

Swindon didn't let their heads drop and still pushed but were unable to make anything from a few long corners with some inviting balls played into the D by Dan Hindon pushing high from CB with the forwards unable to get anything on them.

Then Minehead with a clinical counter attack made it 6 before in the last few minutes heads dropped and some more sloppy play saw Minehead quickly make it 7 then 8.

Swindon have second place Mendip at home next week and look to add to there tally of 7 points which sees them sit second bottom.
