Swindon A 3 - 3 West Wiltshire A

Swindon Men's 2nd XI began the match cautiously, but steadily ramped up the intensity, occupying the opposition's half for the first 20 minutes. Unfortunately one break from West Wilts brought our [otherwise solid] defence out of position for the ball to bypass all of them with a shot across the front of the goal which was tapped in.

Swindon instantly regrouped and created an opportunity for a 2-on-1 in the D where Seb Sweeting skilfully slotted in a silky smooth shot. Smashing!

Swindon built on this momentum with play dominating the West Wilts half. There were several opportunities in this time, anti-climaxing with a missed deflection on goal from yours truly. Ultimately we found the chance for a short corner which Darryl Carpenter screamed into the corner. 2-1 to Swindon at half time.

West Wilts started the second half by equalising 2-2. Going back on the attack, Tim Taylor managed to nurse the ball into the D where he fired it perfectly to Joe Moss on the back post, only for it to deflect it a hair's breadth wide.

Play continued and West Wilts were awarded another short corner. The drama emerged only after the goal was awarded when Michael Macintyre stumbled out of the shroud dripping with blood from his brow. A quick medical check assessed that Michael was still Scottish, and play resumed with the jock sitting out the final 13 minutes.

Swindon made some graceful plays, but West Wilts got progressively stronger as the timer ran down. Tom Sewell came through for the team with his flick in the back post to bring the final score to an even 3-3.
