Swindon B Mens faced a determined Chippenham side as we headed into our first East Central 1 league game of the season, with much of last year’s players being promoted to the 2s or out through injury. After conceding two early goals, Swindon reset and made an effort to get back behind the ball, working on moving the ball across the field. Despite conceding another goal before half-time, we looked a different team to that which started the half.

0 – 3 down at the half time whistle.

The second half saw continued improvements and attacks on the goal but we failed to capitalise and were caught napping on occasion with the counter-attack. Our persistent pressure was putting them off their game and a yellow card was shown to the visitors.

Highlight of the match came in the second half with a brilliant run by Sam from our own 16 yard, parting the Chippenham mid-field like a hot knife through butter. A few swift passes between the forwards and Owen whipped the ball across the goal mouth to Joe on the left post who found the Chippenham backboard.

Final score: Swindon 1 – Chippenham 6

MOTM: a close run affair with Hickey taking it for apparently saving more goals than he let in.

DOTD: despite doing a great job as Swindon B coach, Nick is reminded that the buck shall stop with him, (definitely not the team captain).

P.S. Post-match teas at H&W were great, with the visitors describing them as "the best teas of the season".
