Thanks to Richard for this week's match report:
Daniel Bruce stepped into the role of captain today and kicked things off with a rousing speech.
The first 25 minutes were a bit of a blur as we took on the team placed 3rd in the league and we were given several opportunities to practice the push back, despite our improved positional play compared to previous games. There were a few attacks from Swindon but we couldn't find their backboard.
We were four goals down at half time but despite this, the chat from vice-captain Dan was positive and upbeat. So obviously not long into the second half, we were down to 10 men for 10 minutes after receiving a green... No wait! A yellow card. Finding ourselves on the backfoot, we dropped extra players into defence. Frustratingly, this didn't seem to stem the tide of Cirencester goals.
Sympathy wasn't extended to either Mark Wylie or Julian Cooke who were on the receiving end of a few sniper shots in the D. The view seemed to be that if you're going to get the ball smashed into your leg while you're in the D, at least pretend you weren't. Mark apparently tried to make up for this by seeming to take one of their players out in a glorious rugby tackle, while apologising to him even before they hit the ground.
The highlight of the game was being awarded a short corner, which we've not had many of this season. We didn't score from it.
MOTM goes to Owen Hateley for some really solid play in centre-mid.
