Thanks to Adam for this week's match report:
So for the 3rd time in 8 days the Men's 3s lined up against a Bath Buccs team, this time the G team and the unofficial wooden spoon play-off.
After conceding a combined 25 goals last weekend we again had a team with a mix of youth and experience ...... and more importantly more than 10 players.
The positive pre-match team talk and tweak in formation worked wonders. From the off we took the game to Buccs and more than held our own. Midway through the half from a long corner the ball was fired in and Andy Birnie deflected it in. Celebrations were short lived though as the umpire judged the ball hadn’t travelled the full 5 yards.
Shortly before the break Harrison was slipped through one on one with the keeper, but unable to get the ball on his strong side the chance slipped away.
A couple of great reaction saves from Ed Hickey kept the game goalless at half time.
Team talk was simple, keep doing what we’re doing.
Unfortunately the second half didn’t go to plan, Swindon tired and Bath didn’t. Despite a valiant effort from Swindon, a few mistakes crept in and Bath saw a lot more of the ball and consequently scored 3 times.
Heads up guys. Some great hockey and a superb first half.
