McKenzie masterclass makes way for Swindon dominance.

The threes travelled away to City of Bath B this week and off the back of a win last week, the team were in good spirit and confident in maintaining some form.

Bath looked a worryingly good side to start with though, making many good runs and passes through the Swindon 25 and D. City of Bath continued to push hard but their good spell was soon unravelled by a superb individual effort by Jordan McKenzie. A reasonably long ball was played through to him as he was running just a bit to the left off centre towards the opposition 25, going one on one with the defender and slotting the ball calmly passed the advancing City of Bath keeper.

Bath had been warned of Jordan's skill an pace down the left, but moments later he did it again; picking the ball up from a longish pass, outpacing the defender one on one and putting it away.

Swindon started to dominate and before long were back in the opposition D. Their efforts were soon rewarded with Phil Scarisbrick attempting a shot on goal on the reverse. The shot was deflected high into the air, eventually ending up in the goal (Phil's description of what happened, not mine).

The second half saw Swindon carry on from where they left off. Roughly a third of the way through the second half, Swindon were awarded a short corner. The ball was put in but was mis-controlled at the top. Despite this, Will Porter managed to move the ball onto Phil Scarisbrick who then flicked it into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.

Bath did not stop though and had a spell of dominance of their own towards the end and eventually earned themselves a short corner. The first was taken and Bath were awarded another after the ball hit a Swindon foot. Swindon had not heard the umpire give the go ahead for the short corner to be taken and were still discussing what they were going to do to defend. The ball was played in with Swindon still talking, before realising the corner had been taken. Swindon rushed out but the man at the top had plenty of time to tee it up and smash it into the bottom corner of the goal.

Possibly the performance of the season so far for Swindon. We were positive, confident and we worked as a team! Credit has to be given to City of Bath though for their sportsmanship at the end of the game, offering very positive comments. Also for their teas too, best of the season so far!
