West Wilts run ring(er)s around Swindon.

Swindon had to do the last of their longest travel this week, a journey which felt twice as long with the atrocious weather conditions. Despite being given the warning not to park too far onto the verge at the West Wilts car par as someone had to be towed out last week, Phil Scarisbrick did not comply and ended up getting stuck in the mud.

The first goal came through a West Wilts short corner. The short corner forced four saves in quick succession by Tom Kerslake but the fifth was just out of reach.

Soon after West Wilts doubled their lead with a strike finding the bottom left corner of the goal.

The half time whistle was blown to most of the Swindon side's relief. The poor weather conditions before the game had made the sandy pitch even more slower and unplayable than usual, making one stride feel like three. Heads were also down slightly due to the completely different outfit that West Wilts sided in comparison to the last time they were played, showing skill which hasn't been been seen in this league this season, which probably didn't belong in it.

Swindon continued to struggle after the break and soon into the half conceded again. The ball was given away at the top of the D and the attacker took the shot straight away just right of centre, with the ball clipping the the inside of the keepers right kicker and ending up in the goal.

West Wilts put their fourth on the board with a one on one goal. The Swindon keeper came out hard to close down the advancing attacker and in the process of logging, the shot was released at just the right time, with the ball sneaking under the leg pads and in.

West Wilt's final goal came through a nasty deflection with a fast ball coming in from their left. The keeper was ready to deal with the incoming ball before taking a nasty defection off of Will Porter's stick and ending up in the bottom corner to the left of the helpless keeper.

West Wilts were rampant and continuously piled on the pressure. They should have scored many more goals but the Swindon keeper denied their efforts and was moving across the goal nicely.

A consolation goal came from Will Porter in the form of a penalty flick which he calmly tucked away halfway up the goal to the keepers right.

An absolutely appalling game for Swindon this week. Ok we were overwhelmed by a completely different, loaded West Wilts side, but the effort and work rate was not there. Alex Hynes led by example as he always does this week and we should all have been putting in the same effort and work rate. Hopefully the Christmas break will help us forget about this game and we come back fresh for a game we desperately need to win against Marlborough.
