10 men Swindon fight but no end of season delight.

The final game of the season saw Swindon host City of Bath B. This City of Bath side are always a tough outfit to compete against, and it was going to be even tougher trying to compete with only 10 men.

There wasn't much to separate the two teams throughout the first with Swindon doing well to cancel out Bath's one man advantage. Bath did begin to create the better opportunities but thanks to keeper Kerslake's trusty stick, the scores were kept at zero. Bath's pressure did begin to toll and scored first not to long before the end of the half. The Bath attacker had the opportunity to strike from the top left of the D but passed the ball across to another waiting attacker nearer the goal who buried it first time.

Come the end of the half, Swindon were pleased with their efforts so far but wanted to go out harder and just go for it! That's what happened too with Phil Scarisbrick finding the net again. Will Porter passed the ball over to Phil on the right before taking the ball on his reverse side, storming towards the D and unleashing a beast though the keepers legs.

The heavens opened and so did the scoring momentarily. Bath were starting to get a stranglehold on the game, leaving the Swindon backs outnumbered. Bath were advancing down Swindon's left and despite calling many times for the man on the P spot to be covered, the ball was put across to him. The ball was hit on the second touch to keepers bottom right and keeper Kerslake's stick made contact, but did not get enough on it to divert it wide. Declan Cullen's excuse for not marking the man was "I was on the wrong P spot."

Another bath goal followed soon after with the ball being played from Swindon's left again to a lone attacker on the right again. Keeper Kerslake came out quick to log and the stick made the save again, but the touch sent the ball across the D for a simple Bath tap in.

Nothing to be disappointed with this game, we gave it everything and considering the fact we only had 10 men, we kept the scoreline respectable.

Overall we have had an absolutely fantastic season. Given that fact that we targeted 18 points to keep us safe, we smashed it and finished on 30. I would like to say (yes I'm breaking out of third person past tense for the first time this season) a mega thank you to all of the team for your efforts this season, but a bigger thank you to Captain Alex Hynes for making sure our matches happen every week and leading by example week in week out.

Enjoy the off season and rest up; it's gunna be another toughie next season!
