Swanage and Wareham 1 - 3 Swindon

Swindon were made to work hard for their 6th league win of the season away to bottom of the table Swanage and Wareham.

It was the the home team who took the lead after initial pressure from Swindon. A quick break and some adventurous attacking penetrated the normally resilient defence and a far post shot gave Swindon keeper Sarah Newman no chance.

The early Swindon set back was levelled after 26 minutes from a penalty corner when Hannah Lewis latched onto the initial save and then powered the equaliser home.

Swindon continued to press and turned the game around before the interval. The inexperienced Swanage defence was pulled apart by precise Swindon interchanges and it was Adriana Boullosa who got the final touch to take Swindon 2-1 ahead.

The second half was played at a relative sedentary pace with both teams creating opportunities but neither taking control of the game.

Towards the end of the match, Swindon scored their third goal from a penalty corner when Linda Brouwers powered a straight strike past the Swanage keeper.

After the game, Swindon's manager Bev Lewis reflected on the win. 'Credit must go to the home team for their attacking and courageous play. Swindon learnt a valuable lesson today on how to win even when your not playing to your potential'.
