Another good win for Swindon Ladies 1st team

Swindon Ladies 1sts 4 - Redland UWE 1sts 3

Swindon traveled to newly promoted Redland UWE and took all three points from an exciting West Prem A fixture.

Swindon had a shaky start and were behind after two minutes when Redland UWE converted a penalty corner. In what seemed to set the scene for the rest of the half, Swindon responded immediately with an open play goal from Vicky Stokes. The goal was crafted from a great run and pin point pass from teenager Gael Little who allowed Stokes to calmly collect, turn and fire the equaliser.

Redland UWE went ahead after seven minutes when a penalty stroke was accurately converted past goalkeeper debutant Paige Warman.

Swindon equalised when Gemma Scrase used her skill to round the opposition keeper and slot the ball into an empty net only to have the home team to take the lead again from a penalty corner.

Just before half time, Stokes scored her second when she neatly deflected a Linda Brouwers pass to level the score at 3-3.

The second half was a one sided event with Swindon dominant and commanding the game. When Redland UWE did create opportunities, Swindon keeper Paige Warman stood firm with a confident display that allowed Swindon to press forward. Their efforts were rewarded when player of the match Rachel King scored from close range after a mesmerising run from Gemma Scrase.

After the game, double goal scorer Vicky Stokes was jubilant. 'We worked hard and it's great to see our efforts turn into such a great win'.
