Swindon Ladies 1's Match Report

Swindon lost the West Prem 2A top of the table clash when they were beaten by Newent 3-2.

The home team started strongly with concerted pressure but failed to make a breakthrough. It was against the run of play when Newent took the lead from their first meaningful attack after 13 minutes.

Swindon drew level on 22 minutes after teenager Chloe Lewis rounded off some fantastic individual skills with a reverse stick shot that flew into the top corner of the net.

Swindon continued to control the game and deservedly took the lead when Vic Stokes rounded the keeper and passed to Adriana Bollousa who scored from close range.

Swindon started the second half well with Rachel King missing from close range but a breakout attack from Newent had Swindon back pedalling and a quick cross was dispatched to level the game at 2-2.

With Swindon failing to score from a flurry of penalty corners, Newent took the lead from their own when a straight strike beat Sarah Newman inside the far post.

With the Newent defence standing resolute, a powerful flick from Chloe Lewis was saved on the line and allowed the visitors to take home all three points.

After the game, Adriana Boullosa was bitterly disappointed 'even though our coach believed we had a good game, I did not. We have to get better and this was a wake up call for all of the team'.
