Swindon Ladies 1sts 0 - Hereford 0
Swindon failed to find any form after the Christmas break as they fought out a goalless, but exciting draw at Hereford.
The first half was dominated by the home team as their young and fast side regularly put Swindon under pressure.
Some strong defending by Julie Lewis and excellent goalkeeping by Sarah Anstey kept Swindon in the game whilst Swindon failed to mount a noteworthy attack.
The second half saw Swindon up their game with Linda Brouwers and Gemma Scrase making positive contributions but it was keeper Anstey who continued to have the most influential impact on the game as she stood firm in the Swindon net. Gradually, Swindon started to break their rusty chains and great work between Scrase, Gael Little and Vic Stokes led to their best chance of the game. Stokes was set free but she was unable to capitalise after a robust challenge from the Hereford keeper. In the final few minutes player of the match Sarah Anstey made another fine save leaving both teams with one point.
Afterwards Anstey reflected on a tough game 'we played no where near our capability but we are all relieved to have fought out a draw'.
