Swindon 5 - 1 Redland UWE

Swindon 5 Redland UWE 1

Swindon went back to winning ways with a strong performance keeping them in second place in the West Prem 2A league.

The visitors were the first to score from a penalty corner after only three minutes but a trade mark reverse stick flick from Adrianna Bollousa levelled the score. The game stayed evenly balanced for most of the first half with Swindon player of the match Julie Lewis thwarting the opposition regularly as well as making penetrating runs from deep. Swindon were rewarded just before half time when Gemma Scrase pass found Vicky Stokes in the circle. Stokes first time diving shot flew past the opposition keeper to make the score 2-1 at half time.

Within two minutes of the restart, Stokes was scoring her second and Swindon's third when she pounced on a rebound from a Bollousa shot and powered the ball into the net.

As Swindon dominated possession they started to create regular scoring opportunities. Charlie George scored Swindon's fourth from a rebound when a Stokes shot was saved and finally Swindon's youngest player Chloe Lewis smashed a loose ball into the net to close the game at 5-1.

After the game, goal scorer Stokes gave a balanced view of the performance 'it's great to get back to winning ways but our fitness let us down today - we made too many mistakes'
