Swindon Ladies 1's victory

On Saturday, Swindon faced local rivals Chippenham in their penultimate game of the season. With Chippenham also facing a relegation battle, their commitment and drive gave Swindon one of thier toughest games of the season.

In an even first half, both teams had chances but good saves from the Chippenham keeper and Sarah Anstey in the Swindon goal kept the scores level.

The second half was dominated by Swindon possession and Chippenham counter attacks. Swindon forwards Victoria Stokes and Adrianna Boullosa created a number of scoring chances but with two games in three days causing fatigue, good opportunities were squandered.

In a frenetic last 5 minutes, Swindon created their best move of the game. Two great passes between Lynsey Wall and Claire Tyas set up an opening at the top of the circle for Chloe Lewis. Swindon's top scorer pounced on the loose ball and smashed a first time shot to into the far corner of the Chippenham net securing three points for Swindon.

After the game, four goal hero Chloe Lewis was focused on the opportunity to win the title 'we know what we have to do - winning next week will give us the title. The team needs to focus and step up to the task'.
