Swindon lose at home 5-4 to Bristol Uni

Swindon Ladies 1st played a young Bristol Uni side, and lost 5-4.

Swindon started poorly & conceded early, simply being out passed with marking proving a lost art!

Swindon woke up slightly, slowly getting up to speed. However, Bristol scored a second despite some super saves from keeper Sarah Anstey

A glimmer of hope that Swindon could claw their way back into the game came when junior Megan Poole (Justin Poole) scored her first goal in senior competition when she pounced on a goal mouth scramble, showing great composure and slotted the ball past a defender on the line.

Bristol Uni where very quick & dangerous on the break and put Swindon under a lot of pressure and worked the defence hard. Their work rate earned them a short corner which they converted after a well worked routine, much to the defenders frustration.

Swindon chased the game again and Linda Brouwers managed to deflect a shot from Lynsey Wall passed the keeper with ease.

Swindon brought the game level to 3-3 when Victoria Stokes converted a short corner, won by Adriana Boullosa with some magical silky skills.

Bristol Uni increased the tempo which a tired Swindon team struggled with, and conceded 2 goals fairly quickly.

However, to Swindons credit they did not give up and worked extremely hard to the bitter end, rewarding them with a further goal claimed by Stokes.

Although Swindon managed to work back to level the score, the work rate required to get them there meant they suffered in the final 15 minutes and couldn't hold on to the valuable point.

Swindons coach, Kerry Baker, will be demanding that the team start with the same determination they played with in the second half for next weeks match vs Yate
