Swindon did not disappoint their newly promoted Coach, Kerry Baker with a 7-1 win at home against Firebrands 2

Swindon got off to a flying start, passing the ball well and keeping possession. Midfielder Linda Brouwers covered every inch of the pitch and kept the tempo of the match high. It was in the 20th minute of the first half that saw midfielder Gemma Scrase make a great run down the right, crossing the ball in for teenager Chloe Lewis to hit a neat reverse stick shot into the corner of the goal. This goal settled Swindon and minutes later Lewis entered the D and passed to fellow attacker Adriana Boullosa who beat the keeper with her short range shot. Firebrands came back at Swindon with a strong spell of pressure and forced a short corner on the stroke of half time. Unfortunately a Swindon foot on the line stopped the shot and Firebrands were awarded a penalty flick which saw Swindon keeper Sarah Anstey brilliantly dive to the right to deny Firebrands a goal. Swindon came out strong in the second half and it wasn’t long before Gemma Scrase found the net thanks to a great run by Boullosa. Shortly after this Boullosa scored again with a shot into the roof of the net. Swindon defence, Julie Russell, Mary Goldsmith, Charlie Watson and new comer Natalie Moore were making life difficult for Firebrands, thwarting any attempt that they had to get a goal. Finally, Firebrands did manage to breach the Swindon defence and steal a consolation a goal. This stirred up the Swindon side and with some exceptional play from Charlie Watson and great linking passes by Lynsey Wall and Shona O’Dwyer, Swindon made it 5-1 with another goal from Lewis. After some great play by O’Dwyer, Lewis and Boullosa, Boullosa calmly slotted in her 3rd goal for her hat trick. Daisy Mussard, making her Swindon 1’s debut this season, scored the 7th goal when she deflected a strong pass in from Boullosa. After, man of the match Charlie Watson said “We wanted to bring our A game for the start of the season and we did not disappoint” Next week Swindon travel to Bristol to take on Westberries
