Many thanks to Ella for this week's match report:
After a delayed start due to frosty conditions, Swindon got under way in local derby match. Alexis Hogarth was brought into the match early, being forced to make a few good diving saves to prevent the away team from taking the lead.
Unfortunately Swindon remained off the pace in first 15 minutes and Chippenham capitalised. After the wake up call, Swindon dug deep and with some great play from Victoria Stokes and Rachel King down the wing, Linda Brouwers was able to pick out Gemma Scrase in the middle of the D and with a lovely diving reserve hit Swindon went level. Dutchy then turned up the heat and with a few silky skills in the middle she found herself top of the D and scored another great goal.
In the second half Swindon kept the pressure on and after Vic nearly wrestling the keeper to put the ball over the line Chloe Lewis managed to find the goal through a sea of players. Chippenham then piled on the pressure but with some good tackling by Emily, Angela Cooke and Mary Goldsmith, Lex remained quiet. Emily then made a fantastic run down the right and put in an unstoppable cross which saw Rebecca Lightbody drive the ball home. With 2 minutes left, the Xmas break certainly showed as I deservedly earned DOD for letting a Chippenham player have a 1 on 1 with Lex to finish the game 4-3.
MOM - Emily, great runs down the wing and tackles.
