Late Match Report

Swindon travelled to Bournemouth for the first league game of the season in the West Clubs Premier Division 2A. With objective number one of the getting the team there on time complete (only just), Swindon started postively and within 5 minutes found themselves 1-0 up after a good ball from a long corner by Linda Brouwers was slotted in by Lynsey Wall. Swindon did not let Bournemouth come back and defended solidly. Just before half time a second goal came from another long corner when Sue Roberts ran behind the opposition's defence and found Vicki Stokes to put it in the back of the net. Bournemouth started to put the presure on after the break, their only opportunity to score coming from their only short corner, however they shot straight at Keeper Sarah Annesty. Swindon however did score from a short corner when once again Sue Roberts set up Vicki Stokes to finish. Swindon had many more opportunities and could have easily won by a greater difference. Player of the match was shared between Nicci Foster and Fran Bennett for both good attacking and defensive play on the right side of the pitch.
