Swindon Ladies 1st XI 2 - 2 Chippenham 1st XI

Coming into the game Chippenham were joint top of the West division 2A. However, it was Swindon who started the better side and came close to scoring twice in the opening minutes, only to be denied by the Chippenham keeper.

Once Chippenham settled into the game they began putting on the pressure and were rewarded when they intercepted a Swindon pass accross the back, their free shot on goal beating the keeper.

Swindon's heads went down further when captain Vicki Stokes got hit in the head and had to watch from the sidelines.

Chippenham's confidence grew and soon after the break they scored again.

But Swindon came back when Fran Bennett ran behind the Chippenham defence and found a gap between the goalie and the goal to place the ball and score her first goal for Swindon 1st XI.

This motivated Swindon and with Vicki Stokes bravely back on the pitch, Swindon dominated possession. But with 2 minutes to go time was running out.

Finally, Man of the match, Linda Brouwers, who had been consistently troubling the Chippenham defence, scored when her strike from a short corner was too good for the Chippenham keeper. This was a great come back for Swindon.
