Swindon can only get better

A frustrating match for Swindon who couldn’t find the finishing touch where their opposition could. Throughout the game Swindon created many chances. Lindsey Wall came close to scoring twice but fired just wide and Beth George almost converted the ball in on the post. At half time Swindon found themselves 1-0 down with Newent scoring from a penalty corner, despite the two sides being evenly match.

The belief that Swindon could take anything from the game sank soon after halftime when Newent scored two early goals from attacks down their right. Swindon continued to create chances with captain and player of the Match Vicki Stokes being the driving force. Ella Caldwell made a great debut for the 1st team and cleared a Newent shot off the line. But the Newent strikers had grown with confidence and managed to score another goal and seal the victory.

Swindon should not feel disappointed as if luck had gone they could have easily taken something from the match and they should look forward to beating Newent when they face them at home in second half of the season. Next week Swindon will be looking for points as they face Lansdown at home.
